Most Indian kitchens have a fridge with a small dial marked with nothing more than a row of numbers, no actual temperature readout, and no clear indication of what "3" or "5" is actually supposed to mean inside the appliance. It's a genuinely confusing system, and a lot of households end up guessing, nudging the dial up when milk starts souring faster than expected or down when vegetables come out looking suspiciously frosted.
