Sophie West, a student at Massey University in New Zealand, has designed a portable device intended to clean and sterilise reusable menstrual cups and discs without requiring a stovetop, microwave or other kitchen equipment. Called Arla Gen II, the project was named the 2026 National Winner for New Zealand in the James Dyson Award, an international competition for student and graduate designers in engineering and design.
