Marathi cinema is set to take centre stage on the international platform after Santosh Davakhar’s ‘Gondhal’ was selected as India’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled to take place in 2027. The Film Federation of India (FFI) announced the selection on September 18, 2026, following a jury process involving 33 Indian films.
